Project Title: The Quest for the Best
Project Begin & End Dates: 3/29/04 to 4/23/04
Project Summary:
The Quest for the Best project is intended to be used as a culminating
activity for the fourth grade social science curriculum which deals with
the five major U.S. regions. The use of Weblogs is one unique factor about
this highly interactive project.

Technologies Used: NetMeeting or Other Sharing
Full Project Description:
Student will determine critical factors in selecting a region in which
to live. They will then research to find facts about the region they
use to support these critical factors. They will then choose one of 2 final
projects. They can create a persuasive PowerPoint or HyperStudio
project about their region. Or they can write a "Missing Information
Chapter" for their current textbook. The Chapter can be about a Native
American Tribe from that region or a chapter about a current event that
"has rewritten the history books".
With the use of Blogs, students will be able to communicate with all students that participate in this project. Students will act as resources for the region in which they live.
Participating schools will not need to create any form, blog or web page. Everything that is needed for this project is accessible from the Internet. All student projects will be posted to this site.
Objectives:
This project allows students to use 21st century tools to collaborate
and investigate a topic of personal interest.
This intent is to improve student writing skills through collaboration,
feedback, and student ownership of this project.
