Project Title: 2004 Tooth Tally Project

Project Summary:
The Tooth Tally Project returns for another year of counting something
first graders everywhere have in common: lost teeth. First grade students
and teachers will use email to collect and exchange data. They'll use the
lost tooth data to create graphs, solve math problems, and write stories.

Full Project Description:
The project runs for the months of February, March, and April. Each
class will be assigned to a group of approximately 8-10 other first grade
classes. During each month of the project students will count how many
teeth they've lost. The teacher will send an email message to the
other classes in their group stating their official number of lost teeth
for the month. Teachers will use this data for graphing, writing,
and other classroom lessons. Some lesson ideas are on the project website
and others will be emailed to participants during the course of the project.
Complete directions will be emailed to teachers upon registration for the
project.
